HONG KONG HIGHLIGHTS #13 // Asia Society Hong Kong

Making the most of a sunny Hong Kong day, I made my first trip to Asia Society Hong Kong to see their exhibition, Imminent Domain: Designing the Life of Tomorrow.

Perched a little way up this hill in Admiralty (Justice Drive)...

... is Asia Society Hong Kong...

... a non-profit educational organisation "dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United States in a global context."

Sounds... interesting, right? But I came to visit their free design exhibition, Imminent Domain: Designing the Life of Tomorrow, which starts with an outdoor installation from Dylan Kwok called Skyscrapers.

The setting for Kwok's work couldn't be better as enormous business buildings loom from all sides.

Next, Wendy W Fok's La Technologie Culturelle D'objet...

... followed by William Lim's Wind Pavillion.

As the breeze moves the bamboo above your head you're temporarily transported from outside the city to an island paradise. This last approx. 10 seconds.

The outdoor section concludes with a projection piece called Dual Transformation by Arnold Chan in collaboration with (owner of one of the best surnames ever) Michael Sillitoe.

At this point, the exhibition moves inside, where a friendly French guard will tell you that picture taking is prohibited, which is a shame as there's a *crazy* installation called Breathe In & Out to Plastic Surgery by Yeung Chin that features fashion mannequins and beetles and objects being inflated and deflated...

For the full sensual experience: visit Asia Society Hong Kong at 9 Justice Drive, Admiralty, or watch my short video.
